Traliant’s latest survey, “HR Report on AI: Insights on HR’s Readiness and Risk Management,” gathered responses from over 500 full-time HR professionals. While AI adoption accelerates across industries, HR teams are wrestling with growing concerns about its potential risks.
According to the survey, 63% of HR professionals are primarily worried about the privacy and security of employee data when integrating AI. This highlights the challenges organizations face as AI technology advances rapidly but regulatory and procedural frameworks lag.
The Policy Gap
Surprisingly, 40% of organizations admitted they either lack or are unsure about having a clear policy to govern AI use. This raises alarms about the need for HR departments to take proactive measures in establishing comprehensive guidelines and training to safeguard data.
Michael Johnson, Chief Strategy Officer at Traliant, highlighted the importance of robust policies to maximize AI’s benefits while minimizing risks. “AI offers tremendous opportunities, but it must be grounded in responsible policies to mitigate security concerns,” Johnson said.
Rising Concerns Across HR
The survey also highlighted several other key concerns among HR professionals:
- Compliance with data protection laws: 52% of respondents pointed this out as a significant issue.
- Lack of AI training: 21% of employees reported not receiving any AI training.
- Absence of AI communication: 31% of HR professionals said their organizations failed to provide guidelines for AI use.
With half of the respondents (50%) identifying HR as the department responsible for AI policy development, the onus is on HR professionals to lead the charge in managing AI risks and ensuring ethical practices.
Moving Forward
To unlock the full potential of AI ethically, HR professionals must bridge the educational gaps within their organizations. Comprehensive AI training and clear communication are essential to mitigate the risks while embracing the opportunities AI brings.
