KPMG is redefining workplace culture through its Culture Champions Network (CCN), a platform that gamifies engagement, empowering employees to connect with company values in a fun and rewarding way.
According to Sandy Torchia, KPMG’s Vice Chair of Talent and Culture, the platform has engaged over 9,300 employees, about 25% of the firm’s 36,000 US workforce, since its creation in 2019.
How Does It Work?
CCN offers employees the chance to participate in a range of virtual and in-person events like mentoring sessions, volunteer work, and business resource group activities. These interactions allow participants to earn progressive titles, from “Enthusiast” to “Catalyst” and ultimately, “Legend.”
“We wanted to recognize employees for their contributions while encouraging them to further connect with KPMG’s culture,” Torchia explained.
Combating Disconnection with Purposeful Interaction
With growing concerns over workplace disconnection, Torchia emphasizes that platforms like CCN help employees build meaningful relationships. “Culture is a sum of the individual contributions we all make,” she added, underlining the importance of such initiatives.
To inspire other HR professionals, Torchia advocates interactive team-building activities like bowling and mini-golfing over formal dinners, promoting stronger bonds through shared, purposeful experiences.
What’s the Takeaway?
KPMG’s innovative approach offers a blueprint for engaging employees through gamification, creating an environment where individuals feel recognized and connected.
