Are you eyeing a career with Fresno County but unsure where to start? Hollis Magill, the county’s human resources director, offers insider advice to make your application stand out.

What Jobs Are Available?

Fresno County employs over 8,400 people across various sectors such as parks, behavioral health, and legal services. According to Magill, many job seekers mistakenly believe the country lacks the roles they want. In reality, the county offers diverse opportunities, including office assistant and social services roles.

“We have about 32 openings right now, and you can get notifications for specific job types,” Magill said. You can explore available jobs at FresnoCountyJobs.com.

Salaries and Benefits

Salaries vary by position. Starting pay for current job openings ranges from $40,500 to $139,360 per year. Employees also enjoy comprehensive benefits, including health insurance and retirement plans, with low costs and options that even cover entire families for under $100 per pay period.

“Our benefits are something we’re proud of,” Magill noted. Full-time employees also accrue 20 to 38.5 days of leave annually, depending on their tenure.

Do You Need a Degree?

No degree? No problem. Many entry-level positions, like office assistant or correctional officer, don’t require a college degree. “Someone can start at the bottom and move up with experience,” Magill emphasized.

Making Your Application Shine

To increase your chances, Magill advises applicants to “be very familiar with the job duties and align them with your experience.” Thorough preparation for the interview, including knowledge about the county and its departments, can also set you apart.

Next Steps

Applying for Fresno County jobs is a straightforward process, and applications are saved for future roles. The entire hiring process typically takes 4-6 weeks.
